The investigation progress and current developments of polyazides were reviewed. The methods of synthesizing and characterizing polyazides were extensively summarized and compared. The polyazido anions and acid-base complexes formed by reaction of polyazides and Lewis base were briefly introduced. The structural modification and derivation method of polyazides were outlined.
